![]() Yesterday. What a day! Woke up at 4:45am (CT) and then out the door at 5:45am. Yesterday was our first Marching Competition and it was in Columbus, NE. It all started out with a parade around 10. And because Columbus is about 1.5 hours from Lincoln, we were scheduled to leave from LHS at 6:30am. We left a whole half hour late...no surprise there. The parade went well but after that, there were ominous signs. Whilst crossing the Highway (only way to reach Subway from the lot), some of us nearly got plowed by a semi-truck. But then one small good sign appeared. I found...Ben and Jerry's...Vermonty Python ice-cream at the HyVee! And then again, one more bad sign appeared, one of our flag-girls passed out from dehydration. So, when the time came to march, we were ready to tear apart the field with "Danse Macabre", "Totentanz", and "Symphonie Fantastique: Witches Sabbath". And we did. We received the Superior rating of 1 and then we got first place for our flag line and aux. (that was a BIG surprise...we've never gotten first place for that one!). So, there was double freaking out. I celebrated Python's birthday a day early, that mini-tub of ice-cream was all mine! (I know, very gluttonous!) Yeah, it's pretty god damn crazy (but fun). I think it's more of a sport really. It takes plenty of strength and stamina to march a whole show. I'd been searching for that ice cream for a really long time. I lucked out that our buses were parked in the parking lot of HyVee and that HyVee is one of the stores that actually sells it. The down side, the ice cream cost $4.49! But, like I said to a friend of mine, "it's like an orgy in my mouth". (Which was met with "Parsla! Wtf?!") ![]() BroMaynardG US Armenians are so strange?
